The Sci-ROI Annual Meeting 2018 took place on campus on September 8-9. This annual event brings together early-career Indian scientists from across the Midwest and connects them with top-tier research institutions in India. Delegates this year represented 35+ Indian institutions, including 7 Directors from the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, and various arms of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The successful event drew an audience of close to 200 from across the nation over its two-day span and focused on a variety of scientific fields ranging from biosciences to engineering. Rattan Khosa (MBA’79) also spoke to the audience about his experience with entrepreneurship and building a successful business.
On September 7, the day before the event, UChicago Global hosted a Showcase Day to highlight opportunities for collaboration with the University of Chicago to the visiting speakers. The day concluded with a networking reception with faculty and staff across campus who work closely with India. Throughout the day, 35+ UChicago faculty and staff members engaged in both the programming and reception, including Nishant Agrawal, Anindita Basu, Supratik Guha, Bobby Kasthuri, Erin Lane, Vanessa Leone, Sam Ori, Jason Pariso, Jayant Pinto, Marsha Rosner, Matt Tirrell, Kiran Turaga, and many others.
