Christopher Sola Olopade, MD, MPH, is a highly skilled pulmonologist with expertise and special clinical interests in asthma, chronic obstructive lung diseases (chronic bronchitis and emphysema), bronchiectasis and eosinophilic lung diseases. His research focuses on determining appropriate or best practices for asthma management through collaborative and multi-center clinical research projects. Dr. Olopade's current asthma research focuses on the relationship between environmental and genetic factors and how they affect the expression of asthma--particularly in a developing country setting, such as Nigeria. Dr. Olopade received the American College of Chest Physicians Humanitarian Award for his work on stemming the spread of HIV/AIDS among university students in Nigeria in 2006, and again in 2010 for his work to protect women and children from the hazards of exposure to indoor pollution related to the use of biomass for cooking. Prof. Olopade directs and teaches a Global health course at the UChicago Paris Center and on Campus in Chicago He recently directed a workshop on the health impact of exposure to air pollution with a focus on India at the India Center in November 2018. He also directs the International programs for the PSOM. Prof. Olopade was a member of the Planning committee for the recently conducted 10th International conference of the Consortium of Universities in Global Health in Chicago in March 2019. He was also a participant at the first ever World Health Organization Global conference on Air Pollution and Health in Geneva, November 2018.
