Constantine V. Nakassis is a linguistic anthropologist with interests in semiotics; mass media; film theory; brands; and youth culture. His regional focus is Tamil Nadu, India. He is the author of numerous articles in journals such as American Anthropologist, Current Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, Contributions to Indian Sociology, and Journal of Linguistic Anthropology, as well as the 2016 book, Doing Style: Youth and Mass Mediation in South India (University of Chicago Press). He is currently working on a book about Tamil cinema, entitled Onscreen/Offscreen. He organizes the annual Chicago Tamil Forum workshop.
