Christopher Blattman is a development economist and political scientist who studies poverty, violence, oppression, and crime in developing countries. He has designed and evaluated strategies with governments and civil society to reduce violence and poverty. Much of Blattman’s current work is with the victims and perpetrators of crime and violence, including armed groups, gangs, and the people who join violent organizations. He has worked in and continues to work in sub-Saharan Africa, specifically Ethiopia, Kenya, Liberia, and Uganda.
