Alicia Menendez is an Associate Professor in the Harris School of Public Policy Studies at the University of Chicago, and Principal Research Scientist in the International Projects Department at NORC at the University of Chicago. Dr. Menendez is an economist with 20 years of experience conducting evaluation research in education, health, labor markets and household behavior in developing countries. She has extensive experience in design, management and analysis of surveys. Dr. Menendez is currently leading the evaluation of multiple USAID education programs around the world aimed at improving quality in early grade education, at increasing equitable access to education in crisis and conflict-affected environments, and at promoting girls’ education. Dr. Menendez has published her research and evaluation work in many peer-reviewed journals and received research support from the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Gates Foundation, Hewlett Foundation, among others and has worked as a consultant for the United Nations, USAID, MCC, the World Bank, and many private foundations. The specific countries where she has worked include Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Ethiopia, Ghana, Rep of Georgia, Guatemala, India, Liberia, Malawi, Mongolia, Nepal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia. In addition, she conducted policy practicums with students in Jordan, El Salvador, Morocco, and France.
