Assistant Professor in Pathology and Director of the hematopathology fellowship program Sandeep Gurbuxani, MBBS, PhD, has clinical interests in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and identifying ALL amenable to targeted therapy. His research focuses on the mechanisms of resistance to chemotherapy-induced cell death in leukemia. A diplomate of the American Board of Pathology in clinical pathology and hematology, he has authored or co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications, three book chapters, and 10 reviews. Gurbuxani earned his MBBS from Motilal Nehru Medical College in Allahabad, India, and his PhD from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. He served as chief resident of pathology and completed a fellowship in hematopathology at the University of Chicago. Gurbuxani received the Young Investigator Award from the European Hematology Association in 1996 and 2003, and the Paul E. Strandjord Young Investigator Award from the Academy of Clinical Laboratory Physicians and Scientists in 2004.
