GUO Weiqi has been teaching in the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts since 2005 and was a visiting scholar at the University of Chicago from 2013 to
2014. He is now associate professor and chair in the Department of Art History. Professor Guo has served as the academic director at the OCAT Institute since 2016. His main research interest is the historiography of Chinese art history. Major publications of GUO’s include: Norm and Form: A Conjecture on Wen Zhengming and the Style of Wu School in the Sixteenth Century (2012). His major translations include that of The Shape of Time: Remarks on the History of Things (2019). Professor Guo has also published more than 30 papers in major academic journals. During his years at OCAT Institute, he served as the editor of the World 3 series, publications on annual seminar series, and annual exhibition catalogs. His current research includes the images of beasts in 20th century China and Coromandel lacquers in the 18th century.
