Zhongbo HU is Professor of Material Science at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). He got his B.S. from National University of Defence Technology in 1983, his M.S. from the Institute of Electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1986 and his Ph.D. from University of Missouri-Columbia in 1994. He worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Missouri University Research Reactor (MURR) from 1994 to 1996, as a postdoctoral research scientist at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) from 1996-1998, as an engineer (1998-1999) and a senior engineer (1999-2001) at ComEd in Chicago.
Zhongbo HU joined the faculty of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2002. He has extensive experience in structural characterizations of functional materials. He has authored about 150 peer-reviewed papers. He is also interested in sustainability approach, circular economy and societal aspects on materials science. Prof. HU and his team currently endeavor to convert solar radiation into stable, energy-dense liquid energy carriers that can use existing or adapt global supply chains for storage, shipping, and distribution so as to achieve large-scale deployment of solar energy at gigaton levels.
