Amukta Mahapatra is the director of SchoolScape, a center for education training, and a veteran educator. She has provided educational training and consultancy for the Government of Tamil Nadu. She is a former principal of the Abacus Montessori School in Chennai, the first school in India to teach the mainstream curriculum using Montessori methods. She also founded the Mandara Resource Centre, specializing in training teachers in alternative education practices.
Mahapatra has worked with small schools, NGO-led education programs, large-scale government interventions in the domains of professional development of all cadres of educators and administrators, baseline studies, assessment of children and evaluation in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and across the country.
