Jonathan Lio is currently assistant professor, Section of Infectious Disease and Global Health at the University of Chicago, and associate director for the Wuhan University Medical Education Reform Project (WUMER). Lio is a native of Los Angeles and graduated from UCLA in physiological sciences. He completed his medical degree at Loma Linda University and residency training at Johns Hopkins University in internal medicine.
His interests include residency education in China and faculty development. In addition to working with Wuhan University to implement competency-based medical education at their residency training programs, he has been invited to speak at national residency education conferences across China, and has advised the China Medical Board Consortium of Elite Hospitals for Residency Training. Lio is on the faculty steering committee at the University of Chicago Center in Beijing and is co-director of the International Medical Educators Program (IMEP).
