Children and youth are often the most marginalized members of a society, particularly if they experience deprivation in the forms of poverty, disability, racioethnic minority status, and gender inequality. The US and China have varying provisions to address the needs of vulnerable children, including protecting them from abuse and neglect. This panel will explore some of the current issues facing the young in each country, some of the policies and supports provided, and some of the enduring challenges and potential solutions to them.
