University of Chicago faculty have been engaged in research and academic collaboration in Latin America and the Caribbean across departments, divisions, and professional schools for decades, with deep engagement ranging in topic from regional studies to art history and performance to public policy and economics to astrophysics, to name just a few.
The PGFA-Latin America awards are intended to support collaborative faculty activities across Latin America and the Caribbean. While the University of Chicago does not have a physical center in the region, faculty endeavors are supported by the UChicago Global staff in addition to their local institutional partners.
The committee chair and members of the Latin America Faculty Steering Committee may be consulted in formulating proposals. Prospective applicants are also encouraged to consult with UChicago Global staff regarding the substance of the proposal and budget at global@uchicago.edu.
